There is a man in the bar, sitting alone at a table for four with the Observation Window directly on his left, close enough to touch. He has an enormous glass jar of jelly beans and he is methodically sorting them by colour into a number of smaller bowls laid out in front of him.

Other things about him that might come off as odd include: the fact that he is wearing a ferociously lilac button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows under a muted green vest; the fact that he is not wearing any shoes, and his socks don't match, one of them yellow with a black pattern of bats and the other black with little yellow smiley faces; and, finally, the scars on his face, extending the sides of his mouth into a permanent crooked smile.

He might welcome company. Or he might not. It's not always easy to tell.

Tony looks dubious.

"Not a lotta long term percentage in that, I hear."

"Well, I'm not gonna do it again. That would just be boring," he says loftily, and then winks.

"Smart guy."

"Aww, you're so sweet."

Tony licks his lips.

"So I'm told."

He giggles. "Ooh. Are you flirting with me, honey?"

He snorts.

"What, it took you this long?"

"We-ell, there's flirting and then there's flirting."

Tony wags his eyebrows.

"Which do you think I'm doing?"

He tips his head to one side, then the other, considering.

"I don't think you know."

He snorts. "Fuck you."

Cheerfully: "You wanna?"

"Depends what I'm gonna get out of it."

"Mm, that depends what you want."

"Goin' rate's $75 for a blowjob, $200 and up for a lay, but I'll discount for a drink."

Or an exceptionally good fuck, but he generally doesn't hold out hope for that.

"Two hundred?" He flicks his fingers dismissively. "You got yourself a date, baby."

He grins.

"How long you want me for?"

"Dunno yet."

"Well, I'm gonna want that two hundred up front, then. Now or later?"

"Now!"

Tony gives him a grin, tosses back the last of his beer, and pushes his chair back.

"C'mon, let's go over to the bar and take care of business, then."

The Joker scoops a handful of jelly beans out of the jar - for the road, if you will - and leaves the rest. He gets out of his seat, kisses Tony's temple, and proceeds toward the Bar with a bounce in his step.

Awfully friendly for a guy with a carved-up face.

Tony follows at an amble. When he reaches the Bar:

"Heya, Bar, a refill on the beer, and this guy is transferring $200 to my tab. What do I call you, anyway?"

"Whatever you want," he says, grinning.

He shrugs. "Okay, babe, you're the boss."
